名優。俳優になる為に生まれてきたかのような人。「サウンダー」で見せた演技が未だに忘れられない。キャリアを通して主役からバイプレイヤーまで器用にこなす。しかしやはり70年代の活躍が印象に残る。
私のオールタイム好きな俳優のベスト3に入る程大好き。

犬のブリーダーとしての才能もあった。
幾度も共演していたシシリー・タイソンとは一時期同棲もしていた。
その後はチャールズという建築家の男性と生涯を共にした。2人は一緒のお墓に眠っている。同性愛の活動家としては積極的に活動はしていなかったが、同性愛である事をひたすら隠すという事もしていなかった。
