ブルースとコミュニティ
ミシシッピーにある「サブウェイ」という昔からある、ジュークジョイント（ブルースを演奏したりする酒場）が、経済的に閉鎖の道を辿りつつある。歴史あるこのジュークジョイントは、ブルースの歴史でもあり、ミシシッピーの歴史でもあった。ブルースファンのモーガン・フリーマンやブルースシンガー達が、「サブウェイ」とミシシッピーを語る。
ブルースは多くの人々に愛されたと同時に、また多くの人々から支持を受けずに怖れられた。ブルースには音楽の面だけでなく、人々の生活にも影響を及ぼしたからだ。
このドキュメンタリーは、そんなブルースの影響を浮き彫りにする。ブルースシンガー達が語ると、自分たち流に「とりあえず、俺の曲を聴けや」と、音楽で物語を語ってくれる。それだけでブルースの面白さを示しているようだ。
またブルース好きのモーガン・フリーマンが様々なエピソードを目を輝かして語っている姿は、映画ファンなら面白い筈。
